Elizabeth & Jake's Adventurous Waterfall Elopement

We are beyond excited to share this elopement with you today! It was such a pleasure to plan and enjoy the day with this wonderful couple. Elizabeth and Jake came to us looking for something unique and they couldn't decide between a waterfall or volcano elopement. We found the perfect location that offered both, the best of both worlds - a private waterfall at the foot of an active volcano!

The day started with a first look high up on the side of the volcano in the northern part of Costa Rica. Although it took special coordination, we really wanted to give them a first look that they would never forget. We decided to host the first look near the summit of the mountain. From this vantage point, the couple could see clear down to the Pacific Ocean 30 miles away.

Please enjoy the details of the day which were captured by Costa Vida Photography.

Following an epic first look, we made our way by 4x4 to a trailhead. This wan't for the faint of heart but we are always open for an adventurous afternoon. Our small group consisting of the bride and groom, wedding planner, photographer, officiant, and activity leaders all headed up the windy mountain trail on ATV's. After a few short minutes, we were at the foot of a pristine tropical waterfall. Elizabeth and Jake exchanged their handwritten vows in a location where no others had done so in the past. They were literally the first couple to get married there!

Following the ceremony, we went down to the valley floor where the nearby hotel has a working farm. The change in landscape was dramatic and we got a few shots with the horses passing by.

Afterward, the newly married couple sipped champagne and enjoyed a delicious buttercream cake on the hillside overlooking the rugged volcano landscape as the sun set. Following their wedding day, the newly Mr. and Mrs. traveled around Costa Rica and enjoyed the beaches of the nearby Guanacaste coast.
